Halloween Books to Read: Hauntings

Purchase A Head Full of Ghosts

“The lives of the Barretts, a normal suburban New England family, are torn apart when fourteen-year-old Marjorie begins to display signs of acute schizophrenia.” So of course, they star on a reality TV show! Obviously. 15 years later youngest sister Merry recounts the ordeal.

Purchase House of Reckoning

Foster kid Sarah has a knack for art.  Befriended by fellow outcast Nick & taken under the wing of art teacher Bettina, she finds hidden powers in Bettina’s ancestral mansion.

Purchase Joyland

A college student, working at an amusement park, discovers a haunting in the haunted house. By Stephen King, need I say more?

Purchase Rosecliff Manor Haunting

This is the 2nd part of a series. I read this one first & had no issues understanding, though.  This chick, Addison Lockhart, can catch a glimpse of the dead. She sees 2 twin girls at this manor house & finds out they “fell out of a window” years ago. Unfortunately, there is more to the story than that…

Purchase The Apartment

When you house swap & evil follows you home. Beware.

Purchase The Grand Hotel

I’m not normally into short stories but this anthology was extremely well done and kept me hooked. A desk clerk takes tourists on a tour of the Grand Hotel, to places they never imagined, and some (or all) of them never leave.

Purchase The Supernatural Enhancements

My favorite on this list.  A inherits an estate from a long lost uncle. (Don’t you love the idea that this could happen?) Anyway, the uncle had committed suicide in the exact same way as A’s father had – yikes! With mute punk Niamh in tow (coolest girl ever!) they adopt a dog & explore the house and the secret society who mysteriously gather on Winter Solstice there yearly.
