Velvet Midi Skirt for Work

This velvet midi skirt outfit was inspired by my closet cleanout. I was down to only a few items to use as a jumping off point for my outfit & all three of these were some of the ones left. I would have never put them together otherwise but I think they made a rather nicely balanced & cozy outfit!

I found this velvet skirt at the bins. I don’t even know what brand it is. It’s a modern classic, especially now that midi/long straight skirts are “in”. It’s a straight fit with an elastic waist & a slit in the back which can be turned to the side.

The button down came from Lane Bryant (probably on clearance). I rarely wear it because I don’t trust myself with white clothing. I am a MESS! But it is flowy & comfortable so I need to just wear it till I ruin it, I guess?

I wore this sweater to my brother’s memorial when he passed so I was hesitant to let it go, even though it hadn’t fit for a long time. It was like a big cuddly blanket that comforted me through that day. I try not to be sentimental about clothes but this time I was/am. I lost a lot of weight recently & it fits again so it’s back in the closet now for good.
