Ugh, I’ve been a lazy blogger. Here’s the sum up: Wednesday: Tawna Brix told me my skating is improving – yay! Totally made my night. Did the derby girl workout at practice – stretches across the floor, run to the wall, back to the start, 4 laps around the rink (I ran 1 & 1/2
Brand new/used skates, bought from my friend deJenerate: Riedell 695’s on a laser cut nylon plate, Radar wheels. The bearings are on loan so I need to replace those, also need some nice fat stoppers (in a pretty color, amirite?) I can’t wait to get these out on the rink but I’m also kind of
I’m not saying this is the stuff to get, just sharing what I started with. I went with the major budget option: Riedell R3 – You can get them for around $120. I bet changing the wheels would equal a major upgrade but I haven’t bothered yet. I’ve been skating on these on the road
Last night the coach had me do a sequence of: 30 pushups, 30 situps, 30 squats & then 20 of each, 10 of each & 5 of each. Thanks to Jen’s encouragement & abuse I made it through. Extra bonus: she walked me through yoga stretches at the end. Thank you Jen! My arms felt
My husband has come up with a skating training plan for me. I will let you digest that for a second. It probably will be helpful since it will keep me closer to the house – and drinking plenty of water. He is very worried about my water intake when I’m out in the heat.

I went to skating class on Saturday morning & quite literally as soon as I got on skates the outside of my calves started screaming. It was horrible. I couldn’t do any of the crossovers or other drills I was supposed to be working on because I didn’t trust my legs to hold me up
I haven’t blogged in a while because my life has been consumed by my latest interest – roller derby! I did not make the team at tryouts which was very disappointing but ultimately better for me in the long run. Also, it’s better for the team in the short run since they don’t have to
We launched this one a while back for Diamond Custom Homes, a local custom home builder. The project included a custom Facebook landing page as well as a coordinating newsletter template. Design brief: Local custom home builder wants a website for marketing purposes. Must be high-end, clean & fit with the company’s existing marketing materials.
We recently launched this site for Slowpokes BBQ. It has been built for a while now & the client requested that we launch it as is, even though he hadn’t gotten a lot of the content to us. Design brief: BBQ restaurant needs an online presence. Client gave me free reign with the look. I
