About

p2040038-200wHi!
My name is Amy Carriere, sometimes known as MissAmy.

I live in Naples, Florida with my wonderful husband and our menagerie of rescues – 3 cats & 2 dogs.

My favorite hobby is shopping (a terrible pasttime BTW) but I do like to do lots of other things: read books, watch movies, cook & bake and blog.

I am finally devoting some time to writing a blog about fashion like so many others out there. I hope to stand out from the crowd though – mine tends to be about realistic fashion. I am no fashionista but I like to look good and be comfortable – like most of us real women out there.

I occasionally list some of my finds on ebay so many can benefit from my bad habit.   You can see all my current listings here

Thanks for taking the time to check me out. I hope you find something on the blog that speaks to you!  (Or something that you adore on my ebay page!)

I’ve gotten some really great feedback lately & I just have to share!

“K so um I love you. I’ve just been going through your website and you have great style. I love how you incorporate the mag ideas into your own and so make it work. So yeah you rock. I’m sure you’ve been told many times before but I’m adding my voice to that chorus. You = Awesome”  from PiratesDaughter.  I love her back! :)

“Dear Amy,

I wanted to thank you for your website! I read it with great pleasure. I came across it a few months ago through a Google search for “frugal fashion” — and it’s really made a difference in my fashion life! I love looking at the outfits you put together, and I appreciate all the links you provide to other fashion blogs.

Before I found your site, I felt I’d lost my sartorial compass. I’d entered my mid-thirties, I’d became curvier, and I was no longer working in an office environment. Suddenly, all my clothes seemed dated, boring, and inappropriate. I was working from home, and had no fashion role models. I’d recently sworn off fashion magazines because a) they’re expensive and b) they tend to feature starved seventeen year olds.

But then I found your site, which introduced me to a whole community of sass-ified stylistas!

I’ve approached my closet with new inspiration. I’ve worn pieces that I previously wouldn’t have imagined working together, clothes that I’d  thought I was “too old” or “too big” for, that I’d forgotten I’d owned. Dressing is fun again.

Speaking of fun … I get a vicarious thrill of the hunt from your thrift finds. I’ve been thrifting since I was a teenager (before it was cool! I always tell people) and can appreciate the delight of salvaged glamour.

So, this has been a bit gushy, but thank you. Really.

Sincerely,
Shannon”
