I'm Soooo Tired!
- Monday, May 12, 2008
Ugh, I know this is off-topic but I am so tired. I think I may be coming down with something as well as having a packed schedule for the next month or so. Mostly either fun things - lunch & shopping w/ friends, Sex & the City movie coming out - or things I've been needing to do - visit the dermatologist, get my car up to snuff. So I will be happy to accomplish them. I just hope I don't hit a wall before finishing all of the to-do's.
I even have to grocery shop on the way home tonight - something I avoid at all costs. I simply did not have enough time in the day yesterday.
I did however (and this is where it gets relevant) get all the photos taken of all the new goodies for the store, which I will be doling out one by one. I'm so stingy! But I still need to resize & save the photos in their proper place & format. Another to-do on the list...
Well, tonight I am doing nothing but shopping (for groceries only!) and then going home to prepare dinner. And showering. But that is IT! :)
Have a great Monday & I hope I will have more to say/show you soon!Labels: shopping

Teaser - New Store Stock
- Sunday, May 11, 2008
I shopped for the store yesterday. This is a teaser post since I don't have photos just yet. Sorry! I'm just so excited I wanted to pass it on.
I found all sorts of goodies - Donald J. Pliner shoes, Donna Karan linen jacket, Tory Burch polo shirt (coudn't believe my luck!) and loads more, many unknown brands which are totally on trend - ikat anyone?
I will be photographing, hopefully today, and then will be slowly adding the items one by one. I promise, I do this not to tease, but because I only have so much time to devote per day. I will be adding posts about some of the items as well, so watch this space!Labels: new to store, shopping

Just a quick note to my fellow online lovers of everything stylish -
The museum at FIT is running their "Sole Desire: The Shoes of Christian Louboutin" through April 19th.
You can see a little online here. Or if you are one of the lucky ones, you could visit the exhibit. In the flesh!

Latest TJMaxx Adventure!
- Thursday, May 8, 2008
I stopped at TJMaxx on my way home last night. I just had a hankerin'. It's been a while.
There are 2 items that I am sure you will think are just a bit questionable, even when you take into account my fairly eclectic style. I can never define it. One day I'm break-dancy the next I'm classy.
When you see these pieces you might think I've gone crazy. But I've had this idea, see. I am going to do something with these bits so stay tuned! We'll see if I can bring to fruition what is in my brain...
The one below looks cute in this photo, but there are major pulls all over the fabric. I don't have a definite picture of what I will do with it yet. I will be forced to be very innovative. Hopefully.
Yes, I have lost my mind. I think there is something that could be great about this hippy-dippy linen & embroidered vest. The brand is even awful. It's "Art Wear" or something like that. Ick! I picked up a few other really cute things as well - a Tignanello purse which is a really great grey/brown taupe color & which looks very "Coach"-y, A new pair of sunglasses, a couple re-usable bags that read "The new It Bag" on the side. You can see these in MyStyleDiary under Cool Finds.
So, stay tuned to see what I can do with these pieces. Also, I will be shopping for the store this weekend, shopping with girlfriends the weekend after and Part 2 of my fashion philosophy will be up soon as well.
Have a great day, dears!Labels: shopping, tjmaxx

MissAmy's Fashion Philosophy - Part 1
- Tuesday, May 6, 2008
You may be wanting to know a little more about this girl that is writing this blog & how she thinks about fashion & style. Are we destined to be BFF or not so much?
I am not a fashionista – I don’t have the income (or the time) to be focused on what to wear solely to impress other fashionistas - especially since I don't know any in the flesh. (And besides the fact that I live in a fairly casual resort town & so tend to be less than over the top.) I do envy them their single mindedness, search for the new and many creative blunders and successes. I also don't feel that true high fashion is really available to some of us - mainly due to cash constraints, oh those pesky bills.
My thinking on fashion & style is more about making do or finding something great or absurdly beautiful (or absurdly oddball) for less. I’m very much a make do-er but I still want to look good & be current. This calls for major creativity. (This thinking follows me in many aspects of life.)
For most of my school life my mom & I bought my school clothes at garage sales or they were passed on to us by people we knew. We would get these great garbage bags of clothes that we would go through & then pass on to other families that could use them. The things I found were beautiful and special to me but required some originality to wear. The best was when you found some coveted item – Guess sweatshirt, anyone? - that anyone else would covet.
Later on we graduated to mixing in Kmart blue-light specials. We would go nuts & put a giant heap of super clearanced clothes on lay-away. The day you made that final payment was magical. You would bring home practically a whole new wardrobe.
At this point I didn't have a clear idea for a future career. Modeling appealed... but I'm now only 5'3" - good thing I didn't have my heart set on it, right?
Stay tuned - we haven't even gotten to high school yet...
P.S. In the photo on the right: BCBG top from thrift, $1 linen sweater vest from TJMaxx, Ralph Lauren - probably from TJMaxx, Carlos Santana heels from the thrift.

Organize Your Bag!
- Monday, May 5, 2008
I was over at BagBliss.com reading about a new way to organize your bag - the Transfer Bag. If I had this nifty product I could change bags to match my outfit. (Now I merely change once per week - I crave handbag change!) Her post on the topic inspired me to dig out a clipping I saved from a while back. (I keep a file of "Things I might buy" besides my many other clippings files - interior design, painting inspiration, the list goes on...) This clipping was about Joey Junior's Purse Mate. I think I prefer this version of the organization of the Transfer Bag. Photos are shown for both regular & mini sizes. You can buy one (or more) on their site - JoeyJunior.com. I'm being very tempted by them right now! The one from BagBliss's site is more for if you want to carry a giant bag and then keep all your need-at-hand necessities in one. I used to call this a "satellite bag". I would carry a giant tote or purse that resembles luggage to work but then pull out my "satellite bag" when it was time to jaunt out for lunch. Very handy. I don't see the Purse Mate functioning like that even though I prefer that kind of organization over another, smaller purse to put in the bigger purse. What do you think?
