Movies & Fashion - Watching the Detectives

I am in love with this movie. One of my favorite leading men + an adorable & fun leading lady + cute clothes + movie nerds = a great ride! I will watch anything Cillian Murphy is in, first of all. Also, I am totally digging Lucy Liu as the cute & kooky female sidekick (see Lucky Number Slevin). Plus, this chick wears the craziest cutest stuff! I so want a lookbook of every nutty outfit. One day she's skater, another she's layer crazy and yet another she's total vamp. I just really liked the overall story line - it's about a video store owner that meets this nutty girl & they end up dating but she is a total kook! I did read a few reviews on Netflix & the majority of them wanted him to just get away from her because she was messing with him so badly. But I managed to suspend disbelief in order to really enjoy the hell out of this one. Labels: Movies

Sex & the City and Shopping - Wheeeee!

 I finally took myself to see Sex & the City. What fun! It was like hanging out with old friends - old friends who attend all the major happenings & dress perfectly for them all. So many outfits to drool over. I want to be Carrie! But then again doesn't everyone? I actually thought Miranda outfits were better than in the series. I particularly loved the outfit she wore to the bridge to meet Steve. I've never been as into Charlotte's style - it's a little to clean & goodie goodie for me, though it works for her. Also, Samantha is a bit matchy-match & a little old school power suity for me even though I love watching her story unfold. There was such drama!
I did decide that as much as I love Carrie's choices, they wouldn't work for me quite the same since I live in a much more casual place that New York. If I showed up anywhere in fur I'd get some really funny looks. Also walking in heels everywhere would kill me. I am trying though! I wore the shoes that I photographed myself in this morning!
So, all in all, I laughed, I cried... I loved it! And of course, the fashion inspired me to go shopping afterwards.
 You know, the sales just aren't around like they have been in the past. Maybe I just need to wait till a little deeper into the summer. That's when all the major clearance pricing starts happening around here. Summer is actually off-season in Florida. We are on exactly the opposite schedule as the north. I only bought two things on my sojourn to Marshalls. A red nylon & black leather handbag by DKNY pictured at right. It got it for a sixth of the retail price. It's cuter in person & has tons of division. I need that so all the crap I haul around will stay organized. I also picked up a really cool lightweight scarf in ivory, pale yellow & periwinle. Project Runway, Season 2, Episode 1

Alright. I'm behind. Bad, fashionista, bad! I know, I know.
I just now starting watching Season 2 of Project Runway. You heard me - Season 2! I only just watched the first season within the last year. And love it by the way! And it's actually kind of hilarious that I am so clueless about who actually won. BTW - Jesus man won the first season - LOVE him! Unfortunately I already am well aware of who won Season 4. Damn the media and my new awareness of it!
(Aside: I shun TV. This does not make me a better person, however. It just saves me a lot of time that I devote to even more inane tasks. Like making lists of things I need to do with my time, etc...)
So, back to the Runway. I am happy that the cattiness is kept to a minimum (so far), unlike other reality shows that I refuse to acknowledge. Even though a little is fun - I admit it.  So, first episode highlight - my version: Magnet girl! I was really worried that they would axe her on the first episode. BUT I did guess that they would find her change-it dress "intriguing". Luckily intriguing enough to keep her on! That dress was trying to jump off the model all the way down the runway! I was in shock watching it. But I love that little girl. She is definitely the nicest, most real person on this one. She is such a nerd - I am totally feeling it! Labels: Movies, Shopping and Fashion

French Style

I was watching He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not the other night - a wonderfully twisted movie about a slightly crazy girl (Audrey Tatou) who has a major crush. It occured to me that, no wonder she was a little crazy & possible depressed - she had been wearing the same 2 outfits for much of the movie :) However, even though she repeated outfits, they were lovely and fit her in such a stylish way. P.S. If you haven't seen the movie, please do. It is so worth it!
Speaking of that enigmatic frenchness, StyleBubble had something to say about it the other day & I had fun reading her post. I guess my view is that it isn't the clothing itself but the style that French women use to put it all together. An attitude. I guess we all just need to find our own attitude!
