In high school my outfit choices were greatly commented on – negatively & positively. I would have made many a worst dressed list had I been famous. But at least I was original – wearing a huge green doily over a black catsuit, a swath of material as a skirt with a bodysuit and harness boots, etc… And many people noted that I never wore the same thing twice – maybe because I didn’t limit myself to just jeans & t-shirts (just sayin’).
Once I began working I mostly bought things from the outlet stores I worked at – Ralph Lauren and then later DKNY – because I wore them to work and loved to! It was here that I encountered quality clothing and found out that Ralph makes some pretty funky things by the way. I became a mix master of low and high-ish (Ralph and Donna aren’t exactly Dolce & Chanel, you know?)
One point of interest was during a job review while at the Polo outlet. They actually mentioned that I didn't dress quite right for the store. They meant that I mixed it up too much with Ralph's funkier creations & didn't wear khakis & a button-down like the example they pointed me to. Well, whatever...
I also got a heads up before I started a new job at DKNY. My future boss had been a little freaked out by an outfit that she saw me in at a friend's wedding. She commented to someone I worked with at Ralph who gave me the heads up. I admit, I didn't funk it up as much once I was at DKNY. But Donna's things were just so luxe I didn't feel the need.
So, soon to come, MissAmy moves to Florida & starts her new life. Stay tuned to learn about how she coped with spending limits!
P.S. The photo above is me wearing a skirt as a top! I totally dig it!
