Zumba! - Thursday, March 13, 2008

Zumba was very fast paced! I could not move fast enough to keep up. But, I sweated a lot and I ache a bit today. I think I will keep up with it. Eventually I will get quicker & learn more of the moves so I can understand & keep up better. And I will try not to glare at the instructor. Too much.

New workout schedule - Wednesday, March 12, 2008

So, I gave up bellydancing. You know, it was really fun but I realized it has served it's purpose. By having a class I had to be at once a week it got me moving and it got me on a fitness schedule. Plus, I couldn't afford to do it enough where it would really have major health benenfits. During my one hour session per week, I did not sweat & I never got sore.

However, since I'm on such a tight budget I had to consider that there are alternative places where I can get more fitness for the money. For instance, my community center gym. I'll spend about the same monthly as I would on bellydance but I will be able to take any classes that they offer as well as having complete access to the machines - my favorite is the elliptical.

Here is my proposed schedule & I hope I can make it stick. It will majorly ramp up my sweating & toning:

Mon, Tues - 30 min elliptical in the morning before work
Wed - 1 hr zoomba class
Thurs - Weight Watchers meeting on the way to work, 1 hr scupt/step class after work
Fri - off
Weekend - either take a walk or do a yoga/pilates/bellydance dvd

This weekend I am walking in the Naples St. Patrick's Day Parade with my friend and her Notre Dame alumni group. We did it last year & it was really fun. We worked that crowd, baby!

When You Can't Stop Eating... - Sunday, March 9, 2008

Ugh, what a couple of weeks I've had. I couldn't seem to put down the food for a week or more.

But... my gain of 1.8lbs put a stop to that! Now I am back on track. Thanks goodness I weigh in weekly - otherwise think how much more weight I might have gained! What is the lesson we learn from this? Make sure to get to your meetings and weigh in once a week. Bottom line - it can prevent a lot more weight gain and it's best to catch yourself early!

P.S. A new snack I'm obsessed with - A single slice of lowfat cheddar (the kind you put on sandwiches) broken into 4 peices and eaten on 4 Ritz crackers. I figured it out to be about 4 points, probably less if you have low-fat crackers. It's a way to get your cheese fix (and a milk serving) in a reasonable points amount. For me it's more of a once-in-a-while treat though. It's kind of high in points for an every day snack.

Hello again! - Friday, February 29, 2008

I am still on my weight loss journey - it has only been writing about it that I have been neglecting.

I had a really hard week that started with my husband's birthday which included pizza & Coldstone Creamery cake. Ugh, from then on it's been tough since I knew how low my flex points then were. I tried my best to not say "oh well" & kept tracking even though I knew I would end up going over.

I was pleasantly surprised at weigh-in last night when I found out that I somehow managed to lose 1 lb. It really was a shocker. But that tells me I have to be extra diligent this week or those extra points will catch up with me.

So, I am now down 23.2 lbs. It's been over 36 weeks now but I am sticking with it. I feel so much better than I ever have. And my once snug jeans are all getting loose. Yay!

Half the battle of weight loss is in not giving up. I know, it's so easy to do that! Please don't!

Weigh-in 10/9/07 - Tuesday, October 9, 2007

Well, the last couple weeks have been rocky for me. Two weeks ago I gained a pound, and then last week I stayed the same weight - up a pound.

Imagine my surprise at the scale tonight when I found out I had lost 2.8lbs!!! And this despite meeting friends for lunch at Red Robin & having one of their famous burgers and an entire order of fries.

I don't know what happened - honestly. I worked out twice last week like I have been, but I haven't been to the gym yet this week. It's tempting to think that skipping the gym helped, but I'm sure I'd be making things up then.

Well, I'm now down a total of 14lbs so far & have been on the Weight Watchers program for 16 weeks now. Not as impressive as some track records, but I think I'm doing great - for me, that is. And that's the only person I need to compete with!

Weigh-in 10/2/07 - Thursday, October 4, 2007

I have neither lost nor gained. I'm getting frustrated and I don't feel bad about saying so.

I might be plateau-ing, in which case I need to keep with the program and mix some things up a little by either excercising more or eating less or eating fewer processed foods or drinking more water or something.

It's grueling but I have to stick with it to see results. I admit I could eat fewer desserts a day - I do eat a lot of sweets, even if they are within my points. I've actually done pretty well this week with keeping to 4 points a day most days. Next week I may continue with that and make sure I stick to it, so that I'm only eating 28 flex points that week as opposed to 35.

Well, I will continue to slog on even though I'm through the honeymoon stage. That reminds me though, I've been on the plan for 16 weeks next week, so that's something I'll get to celebrate. Yay!

Sticking To It - Sunday, September 30, 2007

Just a quick update:

I've been doing really well with keeping under my goal amount of flex points this week.

I also tried on a pair of new pants. When I bought them they were close to fitting, then after my last weigh-in they were way too snug to wear. Well, today I wore them grocery shopping. So I'm very excited to weight in on Tuesday. If I've lost I will know that this is a good plan & I will continue to decrease the flex points I am eating per day. Of course, if I gain I will do the same if just to budge some fat!

Oh, you can see photos of how I'm coming along at MyStyleDiary. There's lots of photos & I'm hoping you'll see a downward trend soon :)
