I’ve been avoiding blogging like the plague LOL.  I’m trying to live a “real life”, whatever that is.

But, then, with all the extra time I start dreaming up things to do to fill it.  Nature hates a vacuum & so do I!

Mainly & most importantly I need to focus on learning more for my job/work/career.  I enjoy web design so why shouldn’t I get better at it?  Creatively as well as technically.  So that comes first.  Even though I feel I’m still being very lazy about it.  (I am working on getting a portfolio up on this site so you guys can see some of my work!)

Secondly, there is getting healthy.  Hard to do but must continue on the path.  I’ve resolved to return to my Body Pump class.  (I haven’t been in 3 or 4 weeks.)  and start to be consistent with my elliptical workouts as well.  I’ve been very lame re: my fitness. Also, eating. Must start to count calories.  Every.  Day.  All. Day.  I tend to do it until after lunch and then drift away from it.  Not helping!

Other things I have to fill the time:

  • Friends - Spending time with new meetup friends & older friends too.  I am loving being able to spend time without stressing about taking the time.
  • Drawing – may try to do my third purse drawing today.  We’ll see, but there will be more to come for sure.
  • Netflix – love to download movies (when I have the time)
  • Collecting (human) skulls (not real ones, of course) - just thought of this one today.  It’s my new thing, I think.
  • Mark – I’m considering becoming a Mark rep.  I used to do Avon & I loved it.  However, I did spend more than I made & ended up with a lot of stuff I didn’t need.  So, there’s that.  I still haven’t decided.
  • Ebay – I’m trying to be methodical about photographing & writing descriptions as I set things aside to sell.  Then, try to list a bunch at once.  Almost like how you treat a yard sale.  Kind of seasonal.
  • CVS – They are building one on my corner so am going to try to learn their system.  I’ve read that you can get most of your toiletries & dry goods for free if you learn it & stick to it.  Maybe I’ll sell some of the freebies on Ebay, who knows…
  • Outfits – I’m still photographing outfits IF I think they are worthy.  Am posting on Weardrobe (link on the right).

I think that’s all that’s running around my brain right now.  It’s good to get it out LOL.

Ebay Goodies – Cashmere Edition

Sunday Sep 27, 2009

I listed several goodies  today, all cozy sweaters featuring cashmere or wool.  But mostly cashmere – J. Crew, Sutton Studio (from Bloomingdales) & Belford are 100%.  There’s also a lambswool/cashmere mix in a J. Crew cableknit.  And a Willi Smith hoodie in merino wool.  All great for the coming season!  Click on through to my ebay page to see them!

Drawing #2

Friday Sep 18, 2009

My second drawing in my purse sequence.  This one has none of that crazy crosshatch.  I almost like the simplicity of this better while still wishing it had more depth.  I am impossible to please.

This bag is an awesome flesh tone Claudia Firenze tote.  It is pieced together with fuchsiasuede and is lined in floral liberty print.  It totally rocks for carrying all my crap around.  I think I paid around $30 for it a loooong time ago.

I may have to get a fancier water color palette since I really can’t make fuchsia from red LOL.  Flesh-tone was a little hard to mix as well.

Till next time…

Wear The Outfits Are

Wednesday Sep 16, 2009

I won’t be posting as much from here on out.  I’m just focused on other stuff right now so I don’t have as much time for posting.  I do want to keep challenging myself with my outfits though, so I set up a page on Weardrobe.  Click here to check it out.

Thanks everyone who has been reading with positive thoughts & words.  I appreciate every one of you.

Goodwill Lunch

Thursday Sep 3, 2009

This is what I wore to meet Jennifer of Goodwill (see this post if you don’t know who I’m talking about):

082409

Steve Madden shoes (thrifted, $7), Nine West jeans (TJMaxx, $15), Target top (thrifted, $4), Adrienne Vittadini cardi ($10), DIY feather headband, thrifted necklace

Lunch was really great.  Jennifer is a super cool chick who really believes in what Goodwill does.  She has a great energy & listened to all of my complaints/suggestions.  Many of them have been thought of before – which I expected & she had awesome responses to them, still.

She’s made a lot of changes at Goodwill since she’s been in this district.  For instance, tops used to be priced differently based on sleeve length.  She had the stores them all down to $3.99, which had been the lowest price for shirts.  She is working to get the stores in her district all on the same page & she really appreciated the input, I could tell.

On an endnote: I’m still coming up with questions for my official interview with her.  If you have any, leave them in the comments or email me at amy@amycarriere.com.

Details below.  I love how the cardi is assym looking in the photo.  I don’t love how I’m slouching – what is that?

DIY – Red Feather Headband

Tuesday Sep 1, 2009

082409head3

I’ve been on a headband embellishing kick.  There will be two more headband tutorials rolled out over the next couple weeks.  Anyway, instructions for this red feathered one below:

Gather supplies: headband, feather, glue gun & sticks.  The headband came in a pack of several at Walmart & the other bits can be found at Joanns or Michael’s.

I glued the first feather down with the quill pointing up.  I trimmed off the really pointy, stiff part.

Continue overlapping the feathers, cutting the stiff parts, etc…, until the headband is covered.  It can be pretty messy so go slow & be careful.

And that’s it!
