Maxi Dress + Jean Jacket + Gladiator Sandals
Posted by admin | Under Daily Outfits Wednesday May 20, 2009This is only the third time I’ve worn this dress & I’m so glad that I figured out how to wear it in a more casual way. I originally bought it for my birthday dinner over a year ago now. It was a fairly expensive (for me) impulse buy that I never regretted. I wore it out to dinner with a friend after that. And this time – I wore it to work! Finally, all the pieces converged in my closet to make the perfect maxi dress outfit! Also, that amazing necklace was a great thrift find. It doesn’t seem like it under the jacket but it’s quite large & makes a statement.

Target gladiator sandals ($10), Casting dress ($60 – a rare treat), Hanes tank, Gap jacket (thrifted – $3.99), thrifted necklace ($10)

Please, no comments about the bun in the oven. There isn’t one. I just happen to look pregnant-y in this pic LOL. Actually this dress always make me look a bit pregnant-y but it’s comfy, what can I say? Plus, the jacket makes it look less pregnant-y, after all. Glad I figured that out! And, had I just cropped the picture you wouldn’t have had to suffer through this paragraph at all. My apologies!

This is a great look for you. :]
I love the concept of a maxi dress, but I don’t know if I could pull it off. It seems so dreamy & whimsical… But they’re so beautiful.
I love the pattern on that dress, and you styled it really well! Dresses and blouses that are cut like that tend to make most women look a bit preggers, so don’t worry too much.
This looks so casual and cool! It’s perfect girlie!!! I love maxi dresses, but I have to be on the lookout when I shop for them because they do (some not all) make you look like your carrying a bun in the oven!
That is one awesome maxi!
Thanks all! I agree maxi’s are so nice & breezy. I may have to find more! Thanks for the kudos on the styling!
It seems that a denim jacket goes with *almost* anything–instant chic. It has been the best solution I have found for maxi dresses in which you want some coverage. A lot of the other toppers with maxi dresses that I have tried do not look as good. And you are right in that it adds some definition to the waist and shape to the silhouette.
